H.F. 2160 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 173.14C Limitation on authority —— 1 dangerous weapons. 2 The state fair board shall not prohibit the carrying, 3 transportation, or possession of any dangerous weapon, as 4 defined in section 702.7, on the state fairgrounds including 5 in any buildings on the state fairgrounds, when the carrying, 6 transportation, or possession is otherwise lawful under the 7 laws of this state. 8 EXPLANATION 9 This bill provides that the state fair board shall not 10 prohibit the carrying, transportation, or possession of 11 any dangerous weapon on the state fairgrounds including in 12 any buildings on the state fairgrounds, when the carrying, 13 transportation, or possession is otherwise lawful under the 14 laws of this state. 15 A dangerous weapon is any instrument or device designed 16 primarily for use in inflicting death or injury upon a human 17 being or animal, and which is capable of inflicting death 18 upon a human being when used in the manner for which it was 19 designed, except a bow and arrow when possessed and used for 20 hunting or any other lawful purpose. Dangerous weapons include 21 but are not limited to any offensive weapon, pistol, revolver, 22 or other firearm, dagger, razor, stiletto, switchblade knife, 23 knife having a blade exceeding five inches in length, or any 24 portable device or weapon directing an electric current, 25 impulse, wave, or beam that produces a high-voltage pulse 26 designed to immobilize a person (Code section 702.7). 27 -1- LSB 5012YH (2) 84 rh/rj 1/ 1
