H.F. 172 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 483A.8D Senior shotgun season deer 1 hunting licenses. 2 1. A person who is a resident and is sixty-five years of age 3 or older may be issued one special senior statewide antlered or 4 any sex deer hunting license which is valid and may be used to 5 hunt deer with a shotgun during any established shotgun deer 6 hunting season. 7 2. A person who obtains a license to hunt deer under this 8 section shall purchase a deer hunting license and a hunting 9 license, be otherwise qualified to hunt, pay the wildlife 10 habitat fee, and pay a one dollar fee that shall be used 11 and is appropriated for the purpose of deer herd population 12 management, including assisting with the cost of processing 13 deer donated to the help us stop hunger program administered 14 by the commission. 15 3. A person may obtain a deer hunting license under this 16 section in addition to any other deer hunting licenses for 17 which the person is eligible. 18 4. Season dates, shooting hours, limits, license quotas, 19 and other regulations for a license obtained under this section 20 shall be the same as set forth by the commission by rule for 21 shotgun season deer hunts. 22 EXPLANATION 23 This bill authorizes the natural resource commission to 24 issue a special senior statewide antlered or any sex shotgun 25 season deer hunting license to a resident who is 65 years of 26 age or older. The special license is valid and may be used to 27 hunt deer with a shotgun during any established shotgun deer 28 hunting season. 29 A person who obtains the special license must purchase a deer 30 hunting license and a hunting license, be otherwise qualified 31 to hunt, and pay the wildlife habitat fee and the $1 fee for the 32 purpose of deer herd population management. 33 A person may obtain a special license in addition to any 34 other deer hunting license for which the person is eligible. 35 -1- LSB 2119HH (2) 84 av/sc 1/ 2
