Concurrent
Resolution
requesting
the
legislative

council
create
a
study
committee
relating
to
law

enforcement
officer
training
in
Iowa.

WHEREAS,
the
legislative
council
is
requested
to
4
authorize
a
study
for
the
2011
legislative
interim
5
examining
law
enforcement
officer
training
in
Iowa;
and
6
WHEREAS,
the
study
recommendations
and
findings
7
shall
evaluate
and
make
recommendations
concerning
8
job
training
requirements
of
law
enforcement
officers
9
in
this
state
which
shall
include
but
not
be
limited
10
to
reviewing
the
basic
minimum
training
requirements,
11
curriculum
criteria,
and
the
financial
accountability
12
of
an
officer
candidate
in
training.
The
study
13
committee
shall
also
evaluate
the
utilization
of
14
community
colleges
as
a
resource
for
training
in
order
15
to
maximize
training
opportunities;
and
16
WHEREAS,
the
committee
shall
include
representatives
17
from
the
Iowa
law
enforcement
academy,
the
department
18
of
public
safety,
community
colleges,
the
Iowa
league
19
of
cities,
the
Iowa
state
association
of
counties,
the
20
sheriff’s
association,
the
chief
of
police
association,
21
and
other
interested
stakeholders;
NOW
THEREFORE,
22
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
23
THE
SENATE
CONCURRING,
That
the
legislative
council
24
establish
an
interim
study
committee
examining
law
25
enforcement
officer
training
in
Iowa
and
issue
its
26
findings
and
recommendations
in
a
report
to
the
general
27
assembly
by
January
9,
2012.
