House Concurrent Resolution 10 - Introduced HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 10 BY SCHULTE A Concurrent Resolution requesting the legislative 1 council to establish an interim study committee to 2 examine domestic abuse. 3 WHEREAS, the legislative council is requested to 4 authorize a study for the 2011 legislative interim 5 examining domestic abuse; and 6 WHEREAS, the study recommendations and findings 7 shall include but are not limited to the effectiveness 8 of the supervision and monitoring of persons charged 9 with or convicted of violations of criminal no-contact 10 orders or civil protective orders; the availability of 11 domestic abuse shelters and support services to victims 12 of domestic abuse; the authority and effectiveness 13 of the issuance of protective orders for companion 14 animals owned or held by victims of domestic abuse; and 15 the issuance of protective orders in domestic abuse, 16 harassment, and stalking cases; and 17 WHEREAS, the study is requested to be conducted 18 by a legislative study committee consisting of seven 19 members of the general assembly representing both 20 political parties and both houses of the general 21 assembly, consisting of four members of the house of 22 representatives and three members of the senate, with 23 the legislative council designating the chairperson and 24 co-chairperson; NOW THEREFORE, 25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 26 THE SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council 27 establish an interim study committee examining domestic 28 -1- LSB 1786YH (3) 84 jm/rj 1/ 2
