NEW SECTION . 29C.20B Sale of disaster-affected 1 property by local governments. 2 If a city or county purchases property using federal 3 community development block grant moneys and such property is 4 located in an area that the governor has proclaimed a disaster 5 emergency or the president of the United States has declared 6 a major disaster and the city or county makes a determination 7 to sell the property, the city or county must first provide 8 adjacent property owners the opportunity to purchase the 9 property at a price of not more than one hundred percent of the 10 price paid by the city or county, provided the purchaser agrees 11 to maintain the property. 12 EXPLANATION 13 This bill relates to the purchase and sale of 14 disaster-affected property by local governments. 15 The bill provides that if a city or county purchases property 16 using certain federal moneys and the property is located in 17 an area that the governor has proclaimed a disaster emergency 18 or the president of the United States has declared a major 19 disaster and the city or county makes a determination to sell 20 the property, the city or county must first provide adjacent 21 property owners the opportunity to purchase the property under 22 certain conditions. 23 -1- LSB 5863SC (3) 83 tm/nh 1/ 1
