Section
1.
Section
232.88,
Code
2009,
is
amended
to
read
as
1
follows:

232.88
Summons,
notice,
subpoenas,
and
service.
3
After
a
petition
has
been
filed,
the
court
shall
issue
and
4
serve
summons,
subpoenas,
and
other
process
in
the
same
manner
5
as
for
adjudicatory
hearings
in
cases
of
juvenile
delinquency
6
as
provided
in
section
232.37.
Reasonable
notice
shall
be
7
provided
to
the
persons
required
to
be
provided
notice
under
8
section
232.37
and
to
the
child’s
known
grandparents
,
except
9
that
notice
shall
be
waived
regarding
a
person
who
was
notified
10
of
the
adjudicatory
hearing
and
who
failed
to
appear.
In
11
addition,
reasonable
notice
for
any
hearing
under
this
division
12
shall
be
provided
to
the
agency,
facility,
institution,
13
or
person,
including
a
foster
parent,
relative,
or
other
14
individual
providing
preadoptive
care,
with
whom
a
child
has
15
been
placed.

EXPLANATION
17
This
bill
includes
a
child’s
known
grandparents
among
the
18
persons
who
are
required
to
be
provided
notice
of
child
in
need
19
of
assistance
proceedings
under
Code
section
232.88.
Under
20
current
law,
by
reference
to
Code
section
232.37,
the
list
of
21
such
persons
is
as
follows:
the
person
who
has
custody
or
22
control
of
the
child,
the
child’s
known
parents,
guardians,
or
23
legal
custodians
if
different
from
the
person
who
has
custody
24
or
control,
the
child,
and
the
child’s
guardian
ad
litem,
if
25
any.

The
bill
also
entitles
a
child’s
known
grandparents
to
be
27
heard
in
other
related
review
or
hearing
involving
the
child
28
pursuant
to
Code
section
232.91.
