S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 514C.13, Code 2009, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. A carrier or organized delivery system 3 or a large employer which offers a limited provider network 4 plan shall permit any chiropractor licensed under chapter 5 151 who is located in the geographic area served by the plan 6 and who agrees to abide by the plan’s terms, conditions, 7 reimbursement rates, and quality standards, to serve as a 8 participating provider in the limited provider network plan. 9 EXPLANATION 10 This bill provides that a carrier or organized delivery 11 system or a large employer that offers a limited provider 12 network plan is required to allow any chiropractor licensed 13 under Code chapter 151 who is located in the geographic area 14 served by the plan and who agrees to abide by the terms, 15 conditions, reimbursement rates, and quality standards of the 16 plan, to serve as a participating provider in the limited 17 provider network plan. 18 A “limited provider network plan” means a managed care 19 health plan which limits access to or coverage for services to 20 selected health care providers who are under contract with the 21 managed care health plan. 22 -1- LSB 5146XC (3) 83 av/rj 1/ 1
