S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 715A.9A, subsection 6, Code 2009, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 6. The attorney general shall adopt rules necessary to 3 implement this section, which shall include a procedure by 4 which the attorney general shall assure that an identity 5 theft passport applicant has an identity theft claim that is 6 legitimate and adequately substantiated. The rules shall also 7 include an expedited or streamlined procedure for the issuance 8 of identity theft passports to or for the benefit of victims 9 that were under eighteen years of age at the time the identity 10 theft took place. 11 EXPLANATION 12 This bill requires the attorney general, when adopting rules 13 to implement identity theft passport provisions contained in 14 Code section 715A.9A, to include an expedited or streamlined 15 process for the issuance of identity theft passports to or for 16 the benefit of victims that were under 18 years of age at the 17 time the incident of identity theft occurred. 18 -1- LSB 5491XC (2) 83 rn/nh 1/ 1
