citizens’
aide
shall
designate
one
or
more
assistants

to
respond
to
complaints
involving
children
and
families.
The

duties
assigned
may
include
but
are
not
limited
to
all
of
the

following:

1.
Responding
to
complaints
from
citizens
and
families
7
relating
to
government
services
for
children
and
families
8
such
as
child
protective
services,
foster
care,
adoption,
and
9
juvenile
justice
services.

2.
Performing
a
system
accountability
role
by
recommending
11
overall
system
improvements
to
benefit
children
and
families.
12
3.
Acting
to
protect
the
interests
and
rights
of
children
13
and
families,
both
in
individual
cases
and
in
effects
caused
by
14
aspects
of
the
overall
system.
15
4.
Monitoring
programs,
placements,
and
agencies
receiving
16
public
funding
for
providing
children
and
family
services.

EXPLANATION

This
bill
directs
the
citizens’
aide
to
designate
one
or
19
more
assistants
to
respond
to
complaints
involving
children
20
and
families.
The
duties
assigned
may
include
responding
21
to
complaints
relating
to
government
services,
recommending
22
system
improvements,
acting
to
protect
interests
and
rights
in
23
individual
cases,
and
monitoring
those
receiving
public
funding
24
for
providing
children
and
family
services.
