S.F. 2130 Section 1. Section 99F.1, subsection 12, Code 2009, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 12. “Gambling game” means any game of chance authorized by 3 the commission. However, for racetrack enclosures, “gambling 4 game” does not include table games of chance or video machines 5 which simulate table games of chance, unless otherwise 6 authorized by this chapter. “Gambling game” does not may, 7 if authorized by the commission, include sports betting on 8 professional sporting events . 9 Sec. 2. CONTINGENT IMPLEMENTATION. This Act shall be 10 implemented only upon a determination by the racing and gaming 11 commission that federal law does not prohibit professional 12 sports betting in this state at a licensed facility under the 13 jurisdiction of the commission. 14 EXPLANATION 15 This bill permits the racing and gaming commission to 16 authorize sports betting on professional sporting events 17 as a gambling game that may be conducted on a gambling 18 boat, gambling structure, or racetrack enclosure authorized 19 to conduct gambling games.
