1.
Section
481A.21,
Code
Supplement
2009,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

481A.21
Birds
as
targets.
3
A
person
shall
not
keep
or
use
any
live
pigeon
or
other
4
bird
as
a
target,
to
be
shot
at
for
amusement
or
as
a
test
of
5
skill
in
marksmanship,
or
shoot
at
a
bird
kept
or
used
for
6
such
purpose,
or
be
a
party
to
such
shooting,
or
lease
any
7
building,
room,
field,
or
premises,
or
knowingly
permit
the
use
8
thereof,
for
the
purpose
of
such
shooting.
This
section
does
9
not
prevent
any
person
from
shooting
at
live
pigeons,
sparrows,
10
and
starlings
when
used
in
the
training
of
hunting
dogs.

This
section
does
not
prevent
any
person
from
shooting
at
a
12
game
bird
that
is
released
a
minimum
of
fifty
twenty-five
yards
13
from
that
person
on
a
licensed
hunting
preserve.
For
the
14
purposes
of
this
section,
“game
bird”
means
the
same
as
defined
15
in
section
484B.1.

EXPLANATION
17
This
bill
provides
that
a
person
may
shoot
at
a
game
bird
18
that
is
released
a
minimum
of
25
yards
from
that
person
on
a
19
licensed
hunting
preserve.
For
the
purposes
of
the
bill,
a
20
“game
bird”
means
a
pen-reared
bird
of
the
family
gallinae
and
21
a
mallard
duck.
A
violation
of
this
provision
is
punishable
by
22
a
scheduled
fine
of
$25.
