S.F. 2003 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES —— OFFICE 1 SPACE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. 2 1. The department of administrative services shall issue a 3 request for proposals concerning the availability and cost of 4 office space for state employees in downtown Des Moines and in 5 other areas in close proximity to the state capitol complex. 6 The department shall consider the advantages of locating state 7 employees and their functions near the state capitol complex. 8 2. In issuing the request for proposals, the department 9 shall examine current leases for office space within the 10 greater Des Moines area, determine the current length and 11 duration of those leases, and consider the number of state 12 employees impacted by those leases. 13 3. The department of administrative services shall issue 14 the request for proposals by December 1, 2010, and shall submit 15 a written report to the general assembly concerning the request 16 for proposals by January 15, 2011. 17 EXPLANATION 18 This bill requires the department of administrative 19 services to issue a request for proposals by December 1, 2010, 20 concerning the availability and cost of office space for state 21 employees in downtown Des Moines and in other areas in close 22 proximity to the state capitol complex.
