S.F. 2002 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 35A.8B Veterans recognition award 1 program. 2 The department shall establish a veterans recognition 3 award program for eligible veterans. The program shall 4 provide eligible veterans with a certificate, designed by the 5 department in consultation with the commission, recognizing 6 their military service during World War II, the Korean 7 Conflict, or the Vietnam Conflict. The department shall 8 establish criteria for eligible veterans to apply for a 9 certificate which shall be consistent with the definition of a 10 veteran in section 35.1, who served in the armed forces during 11 World War II, the Korean Conflict, or the Vietnam Conflict. 12 EXPLANATION 13 This bill requires the department of veterans affairs to 14 develop a veterans recognition award for veterans who served 15 during World War II, the Korean Conflict, or the Vietnam 16 Conflict.
