  1  2            BY  WESSEL=KROESCHELL and HEDDENS
  1  3 A Resolution to honor Judie A. Hoffman for a lifetime
  1  4    of public service and dedication to the public
  1  5    good.
  1  6    WHEREAS, Judie A. Hoffman began her working life as
  1  7 a teacher in the public schools, at the college level,
  1  8 and as an adult Sunday school teacher; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, Ms. Hoffman has been equally active in
  1 10 Iowa politics, as an elected member of the Ames City
  1 11 Council and serving on a variety of boards and
  1 12 commissions; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, Ms. Hoffman is best known for her work as
  1 14 a public interest lobbyist for the last 23 years,
  1 15 working as an energetic and stalwart advocate for
  1 16 persons who have no organization to advocate on their
  1 17 behalf, especially victims of poverty and injustice;
  1 18 and
  1 19    WHEREAS, in those two decades Ms. Hoffman has
  1 20 worked on a variety of causes for a variety of
  1 21 interests, including:  the American Red Cross, the
  1 22 Iowa Farmers Union, the Iowa Reading Association, the
  1 23 Interfaith Alliance of Iowa Action Fund, and the
  1 24 League of Women Voters of Iowa, for which she has
  1 25 served as vice president of the board and as a board
  1 26 member; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, in her years of service Ms. Hoffman has
  1 28 garnered a variety of awards, including the Sierra
  1 29 Club of Iowa Public Service Award, the YWCA Women of
  1 30 Achievement Award (first recipient), and the League of
  2  1 Women Voters of Ames Carrie Chapman Catt Award; NOW
  2  2 THEREFORE,
  2  3    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  4 That the House of Representatives honors Judie A.
  2  5 Hoffman for a lifetime of public service and for 23
  2  6 years as a lobbyist before the Iowa General Assembly.
