Voters

recognize

League

Women
Voters
Making
Democracy

Day.

WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
is
the

organization
where
hands-on
work
to
safeguard
democracy
6
leads
to
civic
improvement;
and
7
WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
is
a
nonpartisan
8
political
organization
that
has
fought
since
1920
to
9
improve
our
system
of
government
and
impact
public
10
policy
through
citizen
education
and
advocacy;
and
11
WHEREAS,
league
members
are
constantly
striving
to
12
serve
their
communities
to
make
strong,
safe,
fair,
and
13
vibrant
places
to
live;
and
14
WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
believes
15
in
representative
government
and
in
the
individual
16
liberties
established
in
the
Constitution
of
the
United
17
States;
and
18
WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
has
always

worked
to
promote
the
values
and
processes
of
20
representative
government;
and

WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
collaborates

with
other
organizations
to
achieve
mutual
goals,

WHEREAS,
the
League
of
Women
Voters
for
90
years
has

public
trust

respectfully
bringing
elected

leaders
and
the
public
together
through
nonpartisan,

civil
means
and
through
thoughtfully
advancing

solutions;
and

WHEREAS,
the
citizens
of
Iowa
have
benefited

tremendously
from
the
countless
volunteer
hours
donated

by
league
members
over
its
90-year
history
of
enhancing

our
democracy;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
honors
the
League
13
of
Women
Voters
on
its
90th
anniversary,
recognizes
14
February
14th,
2010,
as
“League
of
Women
Voters
Making
15
Democracy
Work
Day”,
and
urges
all
Iowans
to
pay
great
16
tribute
and
respect
to
the
League
of
Women
Voters
for
17
all
it
does
to
make
our
communities
healthy,
vibrant,
18
and
strong.
