  1  1    Section 1.  SCOPE OF PRACTICE REVIEW COMMITTEE FOR
  1  2 CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MIDWIVES.  The department of public
  1  3 health shall establish a scope of practice review committee to
  1  4 conduct a review of a request for the establishment of
  1  5 licensure requirements for professional midwives.  The
  1  6 department shall submit a report to the general assembly by
  1  7 January 11, 2010, containing the review committee's findings
  1  8 and recommendations.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill requires the department of public health to
  1 11 establish a scope of practice review committee to conduct a
  1 12 review of possible licensure requirements for professional
  1 13 midwives.  The department shall submit a report to the general
  1 14 assembly by January 11, 2010, containing the review
  1 15 committee's findings and recommendations.
