H.F. 2384 Section 1. Section 35A.5, Code Supplement 2009, is amended 1 by adding the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 15A. In coordination with the military 3 division of the department of public defense, advise service 4 members prior to deployment on active duty service outside the 5 United States of issues related to the filing of tax returns 6 and the payment of taxes due and encourage a service member 7 who has not filed a return or who owes taxes to contact the 8 department of revenue prior to deployment. 9 EXPLANATION 10 This bill directs the department of veterans affairs, in 11 coordination with the military division of the department of 12 public defense, to advise service members about tax issues 13 prior to deployment on active duty outside of the United 14 States.
