Code
Supplement
2009,
is
amended
1
by
adding
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
7A.
a.
In
order
to
provide
additional
3
funds
for
rural
school
districts,
a
rural
supplementary
4
weighting
plan
is
adopted.
To
be
eligible
for
supplementary
5
weighting
under
this
subsection,
a
school
district
must
have
a
6
budget
enrollment
of
six
hundred
seventy-five
students
or
less
7
and
a
district
square
mile
per
pupil
ratio
of
greater
than
one
8
hundred
sixty-one
thousandths.

b.
The
rural
supplementary
weighting,
which
shall
be
10
calculated
by
the
department
of
management,
shall
be
calculated
11
by
multiplying
the
district
square
mile
per
pupil
ratio
by
a
12
weighting
of
fourteen
and
eighty-two
thousandths.

c.
For
purposes
of
this
subsection,
the
district
square
mile
14
per
pupil
ratio
is
defined
as
the
total
number
of
square
miles
15
in
the
school
district
divided
by
the
school
district’s
budget
16
enrollment
for
the
budget
year.

EXPLANATION
18
This
bill
creates
a
rural
supplementary
weighting
plan
to
19
provide
rural
school
districts
with
additional
funds.
A
school
20
district
that
qualifies
for
the
supplementary
weighting
must
21
have
a
budget
enrollment
of
675
students
or
less
and
a
district
22
square
mile
per
pupil
ratio
of
greater
than
0.161.
The
bill
23
defines
the
district
square
mile
per
pupil
ratio
as
the
school
24
district’s
square
miles
divided
by
the
school
district’s
budget
25
enrollment
for
the
budget
year.
26
The
rural
supplementary
weighting,
which
is
calculated
by
27
the
department
of
management,
is
calculated
by
multiplying
the
28
district
square
mile
per
pupil
ratio
by
a
weighting
of
14.082.
