H.F. 2190 Section 1. Section 301.1, subsection 3, Code 2009, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 3. As used in subsection 2, “textbooks” means books any of 3 the following: 4 a. Books and loose-leaf or bound manuals, systems of 5 reusable instructional materials or combinations of books and 6 supplementary instructional materials which convey information 7 to the student or otherwise contribute to the learning process , 8 or electronic . 9 b. Electronic textbooks, including but not limited to 10 computer software, applications using computer-assisted 11 instruction, interactive videodisc, and other computer 12 courseware and magnetic media. 13 c. Instructional technology applicable within a classroom 14 setting. 15 EXPLANATION 16 This bill relates to the use of state funds allocated to 17 school districts for purposes of making textbooks available to 18 accredited nonpublic school pupils by expanding the definition 19 of textbooks, and therefore the allowable use of certain state 20 funds, to include instructional technology applicable within 21 a classroom setting.
