NEW SECTION . 1C.16 Iowa fallen firefighter day. 1 The governor of this state is hereby authorized and 2 requested to issue annually a proclamation designating the 3 second Sunday in October as Iowa Fallen Firefighter Day, 4 and urging state officials to display the American flag at 5 half-staff on all state and school buildings and the people of 6 the state to honor those Iowa firefighters who have given the 7 last full measure of service and devotion. 8 EXPLANATION 9 This bill designates the second Sunday in October as Iowa 10 Fallen Firefighter Day and calls upon the governor to issue a 11 proclamation requesting that the American flag be displayed at 12 half-staff. 13 -1- LSB 6177HH (2) 83 jr/nh 1/ 1
