H.F. 2168 Section 1. Section 441.21, Code Supplement 2009, is amended 1 by adding the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 11A. Beginning with valuations established 3 on or after January 1, 2011, as used in this section, 4 “residential property” shall include land and buildings 5 used primarily for human habitation and containing three or 6 fewer separate living quarters, as well as structures and 7 improvements used primarily as a part of or in conjunction 8 with such land and buildings. “Residential property” does not 9 include a hotel, motel, inn, or other building where rooms are 10 usually rented for less than one month, a nursing home, or a 11 rest home. 12 EXPLANATION 13 This bill provides that, for purposes of property tax 14 assessment, residential property shall include land and 15 buildings used primarily for human habitation and containing 16 three or fewer separate living quarters. The bill provides 17 that residential property does not include a hotel, motel, inn, 18 or other building where rooms are usually rented for less than 19 one month, a nursing home, or a rest home. 20 The bill applies to property valuations established on or 21 after January 1, 2011. 22 -1- LSB 6018YH (4) 83 md/sc 1/ 1
