H.F. 2106 Section 1. Section 26.3, subsection 2, Code Supplement 1 2009, is amended to read as follows: 2 2. A If a governmental entity estimates that the total 3 cost of a proposed public improvement will exceed ten thousand 4 dollars, the governmental entity shall have an engineer 5 licensed under chapter 542B, a landscape architect licensed 6 under chapter 544B, or an architect registered under chapter 7 544A prepare plans and specifications, and calculate the 8 estimated total cost of a proposed public improvement. A 9 governmental entity shall ensure that sufficient paper copies 10 of the plans, specifications, and estimated total costs of 11 the proposed public improvement are available for prospective 12 bidders. 13 EXPLANATION 14 Under current law, a government entity must retain the 15 services of an appropriately licensed engineer, landscape 16 architect, or architect for public improvement projects. 17 This bill would limit the requirement to projects where the 18 estimated total cost of a public improvement exceeds $10,000. 19 -1- LSB 5448YH (4) 83 jr/nh 1/ 1
