H.F. 2041 Section 1. Section 368.9, subsection 1, Code 2009, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. A city development board is created. The department 3 of economic development shall provide office space and staff 4 assistance, and shall budget funds to cover expenses of the 5 board and committees. The board consists of five members 6 appointed by the governor subject to confirmation by the 7 senate. The appointments must be for six-year staggered terms 8 beginning and ending as provided by section 69.19, or to fill 9 an unexpired term in case of a vacancy. Members are eligible 10 for reappointment , but no member shall serve more than two 11 complete six-year terms . 12 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being deemed of 13 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 14 EXPLANATION 15 This bill removes the limitation that prevents city 16 development board members from serving more than two complete 17 six-year terms. 18 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 19 -1- LSB 5583YH (1) 83 md/sc 1/ 1
