NEW SECTION . 135B.7B Dialysis procedures. 1 A dialysis unit, whether part of a hospital or other 2 facility, shall provide to each patient the written policy of 3 medical care and general care of patients on the first day of 4 admittance and annually thereafter. 5 EXPLANATION 6 A dialysis unit is a facility or part of a facility used 7 for the dialysis of patients with renal conditions. The main 8 type of dialysis carried out in such units is hemodialysis. 9 Patients undergoing hemodialysis usually are treated on an 10 outpatient basis. This bill requires dialysis units to provide 11 to each patient the written policy of medical care and general 12 care of patients on the first day of admittance and annually 13 thereafter. 14 -1- LSB 5576HH (3) 83 jr/nh 1/ 1
