H.F. 2011 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 135B.7B Dialysis procedures. 1 The department shall adopt rules that require dialysis 2 units, whether part of a hospital or other facility, to 3 follow attending physician medical procedure or prescriptions 4 directions for patients, unless the unit is physically unable 5 to do so. 6 EXPLANATION 7 A dialysis unit is a facility or part of a facility used 8 for the dialysis of patients with renal conditions. The main 9 type of dialysis carried out in such units is hemodialysis. 10 Patients undergoing hemodialysis usually are treated on 11 an outpatient basis. This bill requires the department of 12 inspections and appeals to adopt rules requiring dialysis 13 units to follow attending physician medical procedure or 14 prescriptions directions for patients. 15 -1- LSB 5575HH (2) 83 jr/nh 1/ 1
