H.F. 2010 Section 1. Section 68B.8, Code 2009, is amended by adding 1 the following new unnumbered paragraph: 2 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH . A state agency of the executive 3 branch of state government shall not employ a person through 4 the use of its public funds whose position with the agency is 5 primarily representing the agency relative to the passage, 6 defeat, approval, or modification of bills that are being 7 considered by the general assembly. 8 EXPLANATION 9 This bill prohibits a state agency of the executive branch of 10 state government from employing a person whose position with 11 the agency is primarily representing the agency relative to the 12 passage, defeat, approval, or modification of bills that are 13 being considered by the general assembly. 14 A person who knowingly and intentionally violates this 15 new provision is guilty of a serious misdemeanor and may be 16 reprimanded, suspended, or dismissed from the person’s position 17 or otherwise sanctioned. A serious misdemeanor is punishable 18 by confinement for not more than one year and a fine of at least 19 $315 but not more than $1,875. 20 -1- LSB 5461YH (2) 83 ec/rj 1/ 1
