  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                       BY  MULDER
  1  3 A Resolution honoring the Northwestern College women's
  1  4    basketball team.
  1  5    WHEREAS, the Northwestern College women's
  1  6 basketball team, the Red Raiders, have won the
  1  7 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
  1  8 (NAIA) Division II Women's Basketball National
  1  9 Championship; and
  1 10    WHEREAS, in the championship game the Raiders, with
  1 11 an all=senior starting lineup, defeated top=seeded
  1 12 College of the Ozarks, 82=75, winning its second
  1 13 national championship and ending the season with a
  1 14 35=2 overall record; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the NAIA has named Red Raider senior Deb
  1 16 Remmerde, who poured in 41 points in the championship
  1 17 game, to the 2008 Division II Women's Basketball
  1 18 All=America First Team and teammate Amy Larson, who
  1 19 added 15 points, to the Third Team; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Crystal Algood, Deb Remmerde, and Amy
  1 21 Larson were named 2008 Daktronics=NAIA Division II
  1 22 Women's Basketball All=American Scholar=Athletes; and
  1 23    WHEREAS, teammates Mandy Carr and Miranda Boekhout
  1 24 were instrumental in the championship victory, with
  1 25 Mandy adding 12 points and Miranda providing four
  1 26 assists for a school career record of 628 assists; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, Coach Earl Woudstra, with a 311=124 record
  1 28 and two national championships, is the all=time
  1 29 winningest coach at Northwestern College; NOW
  1 30 THEREFORE,
  2  1    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2  2 congratulates the Northwestern College women's
  2  3 basketball team and Coach Earl Woudstra on winning the
  2  4 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
  2  5 Division II Women's Basketball National Championship.
