  1  3 A Resolution honoring Deb Remmerde, the National
  1  4    Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division
  1  5    II Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
  1  6    WHEREAS, Deb Remmerde, a 2003 graduate of Rock
  1  7 Valley High School, was Iowa's all=time leading
  1  8 five=player scorer with 2,756 points, taking Rock
  1  9 Valley to three state championships and was named
  1 10 "Miss Iowa Basketball" in 2003; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, Ms. Remmerde, now a 5=9 senior guard, led
  1 12 the Northwestern College women's basketball team to
  1 13 the 2008 National Association of Intercollegiate
  1 14 Athletics (NAIA) Women's Basketball National
  1 15 Championship; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, in the championship game Ms. Remmerde
  1 17 scored 41 points and garnered a tournament scoring
  1 18 record of 177, beating her own record set two years
  1 19 earlier; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Ms. Remmerde has been named to the 2008
  1 21 Division II Women's Basketball All=America First Team,
  1 22 and has been named Division II Women's Basketball
  1 23 Player of the Year and has been named a
  1 24 Daktronics=NAIA Division II Women's Basketball
  1 25 All=American Scholar=Athlete; and
  1 26    WHEREAS, Ms. Remmerde finishes her college career
  1 27 with 3,854 points, 1,358 field goals, 481 three=point
  1 28 baskets, and a blistering 96 percent free=throw
  1 29 record; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 30    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2  1 honors Deb Remmerde, an astonishing young athlete who
  2  2 has been breaking records since her basketball career
  2  3 began and whose style, skill, and determination offers
  2  4 the promise of even greater success in the future.
