  1  3 A Resolution to honor Coach Kim Muhl and the Kirkwood
  1  4    Community College Women's Basketball team.
  1  5    WHEREAS, Kirkwood Community College Women's
  1  6 Basketball Coach Kim Muhl came to Kirkwood in
  1  7 September 1989 and in the following 19 years Coach
  1  8 Muhl has led the team to regional basketball titles in
  1  9 1990, 1995, 1997=1999, 2002=2008, and the team has won
  1 10 National Titles in 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2008; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, with this 2008 victory the Kirkwood
  1 12 Community College Women's Basketball team, the Eagles,
  1 13 have won their second consecutive National Junior
  1 14 College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II
  1 15 national tournament and fourth in school history; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, playing their third straight championship
  1 17 game the Eagles defeated Kankakee Community College
  1 18 with a score of 78=53 and ended the 2007=2008 season
  1 19 with a 31=6 record; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Lauren Thomas=Johnson, a Womens Basketball
  1 21 Coaches Association/State Farm All=American, was named
  1 22 the tournament's most valuable player; and
  1 23    WHEREAS, Ms. Thomas=Johnson and teammates Breann
  1 24 Hill and Allie Lindemann were named to the Division II
  1 25 All=Tournament Team; and
  1 26    WHEREAS, Coach Muhl has been named Region XI Coach
  1 27 of the Year in 1990, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002,
  1 28 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 and has been
  1 29 named Outstanding Coach of the Tournament at the 1997,
  1 30 2002, 2007, and 2008 NJCAA Division II National
  2  1 Tournaments; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  2    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  3 That the House of Representatives honors and
  2  4 congratulates Coach Kim Muhl and the Kirkwood
  2  5 Community College Women's Basketball Team on their
  2  6 remarkable season and thanks him and the team for the
  2  7 honor and excitement they brought to the State of
  2  8 Iowa; and
  2  9    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the
  2 10 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
  2 11 cause an official copy of this Resolution to be
  2 12 prepared for presentation to Coach Kim Muhl and the
  2 13 Kirkwood Community College Women's Basketball Team.
