  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321.1, subsection 62, Code 2007, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    62.  "Rescue vehicle" means a motor vehicle which is
  1  4 equipped with rescue, fire, or life support equipment used
  1  5 exclusively to assist and rescue persons in emergencies or
  1  6 support emergency personnel in the performance of their
  1  7 duties.
  1  8                           EXPLANATION
  1  9    This bill revises the definition of "rescue vehicle" to
  1 10 specify that the term applies to a vehicle that is equipped
  1 11 with rescue, fire, or life support equipment and used
  1 12 exclusively to assist and rescue persons in emergencies or
  1 13 support emergency personnel.  Under the current definition,
  1 14 exclusive use for such purposes is not required for a vehicle
  1 15 to be considered a rescue vehicle.
