1 1 Section 1. Section 904A.4B, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
1 2 2005, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 The chief administrative officer of the board of parole
1 4 shall be the executive director. The executive director shall
1 5 be appointed by the chairperson, subject to the approval of
1 6 the board and shall serve at the pleasure of the board. A
1 7 vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as the appointment
1 8 was made. The board of parole may remove the executive
1 9 director for malfeasance as executive director, or for any
1 10 cause that renders the executive director ineligible,
1 11 incapable, or unfit to discharge the duties of the executive
1 12 director. The executive director shall do all of the
1 13 following:
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill provides that once the executive director of the
1 16 board of parole is appointed, the director can only be removed
1 17 from the position by the board of parole for malfeasance or
1 18 any other cause that renders the director ineligible,
1 19 incapable, or unfit to be director. The bill further provides
1 20 that a vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as the
1 21 appointment was made. Under current law, the executive
1 22 director serves at the pleasure of the board of parole.
