1 3 (COMPANION TO HR 5 BY ALONS)
1 4 A Resolution to honor the service of the 132nd Fighter
1 5 Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard.
1 6 WHEREAS, the motto of the 132nd Fighter Wing of the
1 7 Iowa Air National Guard is "Excellence in All We Do";
1 8 and
1 9 WHEREAS, dedication to that motto has motivated the
1 10 members of the 132nd Fighter Wing to devote themselves
1 11 to achieving an excellent rating in their Air Combat
1 12 Command Operational Readiness Inspection; and
1 13 WHEREAS, that dedication has now resulted in an
1 14 excellent rating in the four major areas of the
1 15 Operational Readiness Inspection: initial response,
1 16 employment, support, and ability to survive and
1 17 operate; and
1 18 WHEREAS, in 73 percent of the 154 areas the 132nd
1 19 Fighter Wing was rated either excellent or
1 20 outstanding; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Major General G. Ron Dardis, Adjutant
1 22 General for the Iowa National Guard, stated this was
1 23 the best Operational Readiness Inspection he had ever
1 24 seen at Volk Field; and
1 25 WHEREAS, Lieutenant General Daniel James, III,
1 26 Director of the Iowa Air National Guard, stated that
1 27 the 132nd Fighter Wing has "set the standard" for the
1 28 Operational Readiness Inspection; and
1 29 WHEREAS, that rating demonstrates that the 132nd
1 30 Fighter Wing stands ready to deploy and ready to
2 1 fight, as they previously demonstrated during
2 2 operational deployments between 1996 and 2002
2 3 supporting Operation Provide Comfort and Operations
2 4 Northern/Southern Watch over Iraq; NOW THEREFORE,
2 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate, on
2 6 behalf of all Iowans, congratulates and thanks the men
2 7 and women of the 132nd Fighter Wing who stand ready to
2 8 place themselves in harm's way to protect the United
2 9 States of America.
