  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                BY  MILLER and WARNSTADT
  1  3 A Resolution commending Iowans for their military
  1  4    service in Iraq and supporting their quick return
  1  5    home.
  1  6    WHEREAS, the Iowa Senate supports the right of the
  1  7 Iraqi people to determine their own destiny; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, an election is scheduled for January 30,
  1  9 2005, at which the Iraqi people will vote and elect
  1 10 their leaders; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, this is an important first step in
  1 12 creating a democracy in Iraq; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, United States servicemen and servicewomen
  1 14 are serving their country in Iraq in order to help
  1 15 ensure a free and democratic election; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, the State of Iowa has many of its citizens
  1 17 serving in Iraq and the Iowa Senate has one of its own
  1 18 members, Senator Chuck Larson, serving in Iraq; NOW
  1 19 THEREFORE,
  1 20    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the members of
  1 21 the Iowa Senate support the quick return home of the
  1 22 servicemen and servicewomen who are now serving their
  1 23 country in Iraq; and
  1 24    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the members of the
  1 25 Iowa Senate commend the servicemen and servicewomen
  1 26 now in Iraq for the job they are doing in the service
  1 27 of democracy and extend the support of the Senate for
  1 28 a successful election and for the safe return of our
  1 29 servicemen and servicewomen.
