  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                       BY  LUNDBY
  1  3 A Resolution honoring all Iowans, living and previously
  1  4    living, former Iowans, all persons with an Iowa
  1  5    connection, and all persons who have known an Iowan,
  1  6    who have not yet been honored.
  1  7    WHEREAS, for almost 200 years, from all over the
  1  8 globe, hopeful immigrants have trekked across America
  1  9 to make Iowa their home, or trekked through Iowa on
  1 10 their way to another destination; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, with grit and determination, these
  1 12 pioneers tamed the prairies, cleared the farmland,
  1 13 drained the swamps, and built the cities, roads, and
  1 14 railways that have made Iowa a great state; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, sometimes these pioneers stayed and
  1 16 sometimes they moved on; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, in a latter=day diaspora, Iowans have now
  1 18 been transplanted throughout the United States where
  1 19 they are known as a sturdy, well=educated, above=
  1 20 average people with a strong work ethic; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, today almost three million Iowans and
  1 22 almost as many former Iowans and people with Iowa
  1 23 connections contribute to the ongoing effort to make
  1 24 the United States of America the great country that it
  1 25 is; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 27 honors all those Iowans, both living and previously
  1 28 living, former Iowans, those persons with Iowa
  1 29 connections, and those persons who have known an
  1 30 Iowan, who have not yet been honored by the Senate,
  2  1 and thanks them for the part they may have played in
  2  2 making Iowa the great state and making the United
  2  3 States of America the great country that both are
  2  4 today; and
  2  5    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the
  2  6 Senate is requested to prepare an official copy of
  2  7 this Resolution and transmit a facsimile via
  2  8 electronic mail to all known persons in the United
  2  9 States with a connection to Iowa and having an
  2 10 electronic mail address, with the request that they
  2 11 present the facsimile to any Iowan they know or meet,
  2 12 or to anyone else with an Iowa connection.
