  1  2      BY  DANIELSON, DOTZLER, WARNSTADT, GRONSTAL,
  1  3       COURTNEY, HORN, DVORSKY, CONNOLLY, SEYMOUR,
  1  4      KETTERING, MILLER, WIECK, McKIBBEN, HANCOCK,
  1  5       IVERSON, ZIEMAN, LAMBERTI, ANGELO, GASKILL,
  1  6      JOHNSON, BRUNKHORST, WARD, BOETTGER, PUTNEY,
  1  7      MULDER, SHULL, ZAUN, BEHN, HAHN, SENG, HATCH,
  1  8                       and FRAISE
  1  9 A Resolution to recognize Dennis Clark and his
  1 10    associates for their service to wounded veterans
  1 11    of the Iraq war.
  1 12    WHEREAS, Clark and Associates Prosthetics and
  1 13 Orthotics is located in Waterloo, Iowa, and is a
  1 14 leader in the field of orthotics and prosthetics; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, owner Dennis Clark took over the company
  1 16 in 1987 and over the years has revolutionized the
  1 17 orthotics and prosthetics industry; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, when the number of wounded American
  1 19 soldiers with lower limb amputations began to increase
  1 20 as a result of the Iraqi insurgency, the Walter Reed
  1 21 Army Medical Center turned to the company for
  1 22 assistance; and
  1 23    WHEREAS, when Walter Reed administrators wanted to
  1 24 get wounded soldiers up and moving as quickly as
  1 25 possible, Mr. Clark and his associates stepped up to
  1 26 the challenge to make those soldiers whole again; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, for 18 months, Mr. Clark and his
  1 28 associates, Matt Hutchings, Andrew Steele, John
  1 29 Costello, and Dean Sturch, have shuttled between
  1 30 Waterloo, and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center,
  2  1 meeting and measuring patients and sending information
  2  2 back to Waterloo, allowing patients to test their
  2  3 prosthetics within a week's time; and
  2  4    WHEREAS, the unique needs of the younger, more
  2  5 athletic soldiers have challenged the expertise of Mr.
  2  6 Clark and his associates to develop and test new
  2  7 concepts in prosthetics design; and
  2  8    WHEREAS, the goal of the company is "to set the
  2  9 worldwide standard for the highest quality products
  2 10 and the fastest service to our clients and their
  2 11 patients", and that goal has been far exceeded by the
  2 12 dedicated service provided to America's wounded
  2 13 soldiers; NOW THEREFORE,
  2 14    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2 15 thanks Dennis Clark, Matt Hutchings, Andrew Steele,
  2 16 John Costello, and Dean Sturch and all of the
  2 17 employees of Clark and Associates Prosthetics and
  2 18 Orthotics for their service in the rehabilitation of
  2 19 wounded soldiers and for showing the nation that the
  2 20 spirit of selfless public service is alive and well in
  2 21 Iowa.
