1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY McKINLEY and RIELLY
1 3 A Resolution honoring the North Mahaska Community
1 4 Schools boys basketball team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the North Mahaska Community Schools boys
1 6 basketball team, the Warhawks, finished its 2004=2005
1 7 season with 27 wins and only one loss; and
1 8 WHEREAS, on Friday, March 18, 2005, in the 2005
1 9 Boys State Basketball Tournament the North Mahaska
1 10 Warhawks, ranked number three in the state, captured
1 11 the 2005 Class 1=A title by convincingly winning their
1 12 three tournament games and besting the Iowa Mennonite
1 13 High School boys basketball team, ranked number one,
1 14 with a score of 74 to 63; and
1 15 WHEREAS, in the championship game the North Mahaska
1 16 Warhawks made 17 of 18 free throws in the fourth
1 17 quarter to clinch the victory; and
1 18 WHEREAS, Blake McGriff led the Warhawks with 21
1 19 points, including a 13=for=16 effort on free throws;
1 20 and
1 21 WHEREAS, Mr. McGriff was named as the co=captain of
1 22 the Class 1=A All=tournament Team; and
1 23 WHEREAS, Caleb Stout made four out of seven three=
1 24 point shots with a total of 18 points; and
1 25 WHEREAS, this feat marked the team's first
1 26 championship in three consecutive appearances; and
1 27 WHEREAS, the North Mahaska Warhawks deserve
1 28 recognition for all of their accomplishments during
1 29 the 2004=2005 season; NOW THEREFORE,
1 30 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
2 1 congratulates the North Mahaska Community Schools boys
2 2 basketball team and the team coach, Andy Pickering, on
2 3 their successful season and thanks them for the honor
2 4 and recognition they have brought to the State of
2 5 Iowa; and
2 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
2 7 Secretary of the Senate shall prepare an official copy
2 8 of this Resolution for presentation to Coach Pickering
2 9 and the North Mahaska Community Schools boys
2 10 basketball team.
