  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                      BY  QUIRMBACH
  1  3 A Resolution to recognize Joanne Olson of Iowa State
  1  4    University for being named the Outstanding Science
  1  5    Teacher Educator of the Year by the Association for
  1  6    Science Teacher Education.
  1  7    WHEREAS, the Association for Science Teacher
  1  8 Education (ASTE) serves educators involved in the
  1  9 professional development of teachers of science,
  1 10 including science teacher educators, staff developers,
  1 11 college level science instructors, education
  1 12 policymakers, instructional material developers, and
  1 13 all others interested in promoting the development of
  1 14 teachers of science; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the ASTE acts to promote leadership in,
  1 16 and support for those involved in, the professional
  1 17 development of teachers of science; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, in that role the ASTE has named Iowa State
  1 19 University Assistant Professor Joanne Olson the
  1 20 Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, the award cites Professor Olson for
  1 22 excellence in teaching, developing science teacher
  1 23 education programs, research activities, science
  1 24 curricula development, and leadership in the field of
  1 25 science education; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 27 congratulates Professor Joanne Olson for being named
  1 28 the Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year
  1 29 by the Association for Science Teacher Education and
  1 30 also for her exemplary service to the students of Iowa
  2  1 State University.
