  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                      BY  QUIRMACH
  1  3 A Resolution of appreciation to the Iowa Chapter of
  1  4    the American Institute of Architects for designating
  1  5    C.Y. Stephens Auditorium as Iowa's Building of the
  1  6    Century.
  1  7    WHEREAS, construction on C.Y. Stephens Auditorium
  1  8 began in 1966, costing $4.5 million and financed
  1  9 entirely by gifts and grants from alumni, students,
  1 10 faculty, and other friends of Iowa State University;
  1 11 and
  1 12    WHEREAS, the auditorium is named for Clifford Y.
  1 13 Stephens, a 1925 graduate of the Iowa State College
  1 14 who established a scholarship foundation at Iowa State
  1 15 University, and also chaired the university's national
  1 16 campaign for the construction of a cultural and
  1 17 educational center, the Iowa State Center; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, Iowa State University's C.Y. Stephens
  1 19 Auditorium has been selected as Iowa's Building of the
  1 20 Century by the American Institute of Architects, Iowa
  1 21 Chapter; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 22    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 23 offers its appreciation, on behalf of all Iowans, to
  1 24 the Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of
  1 25 Architects for designating C.Y. Stephens Auditorium as
  1 26 Iowa's Building of the Century.
