  1  2                       BY  MULDER
  1  3    A Resolution honoring Iowa basketball great Deb Remmerde.
  1  4    WHEREAS, Deb Remmerde grew up in Rock Valley, Iowa,
  1  5 and while in high school was named to the Iowa
  1  6 Newspaper Association all=State first team her
  1  7 sophomore through senior years; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, Miss Remmerde was Iowa's Miss Basketball
  1  9 her senior year and Class=1A State Tournament Most
  1 10 Valuable Player; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, as a college sophomore Miss Remmerde has
  1 12 been named an All=American for the past two years both
  1 13 academically and athletically; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, Miss Remmerde is a two=time All=Great
  1 15 Plains Athletic Conference performer, leading the
  1 16 league in scoring, with 32 points per game, and in
  1 17 three=point goals; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, Miss Remmerde has paced her team, the
  1 19 Northwestern College Red Raiders to a national
  1 20 tournament final four appearance; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, Miss Remmerde has been named the National
  1 22 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National
  1 23 Player of the Year for 2005 and 2006; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, Miss Remmerde set a national competitive
  1 25 record for all divisions of basketball, both male and
  1 26 female, amateur and professional, by making 133
  1 27 consecutive free=throw shots; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 28    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 29 honors Deb Remmerde for her achievements in combining
  1 30 academic excellence and basketball prowess in her
  2  1 truly remarkable career.
