Senate Resolution 14 - Introduced PAG LIN 1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY WARNSTADT and BEHN 1 3 A Resolution designating April 2005 as Financial 1 4 Literacy for Youth Month in Iowa. 1 5 WHEREAS, personal financial education is essential 1 6 for ensuring that the youth of Iowa are prepared to 1 7 manage money, investments, and credit with wisdom and 1 8 responsibility; and 1 9 WHEREAS, acquisition of financial literacy skills 1 10 by Iowa's youth will improve the quality of their 1 11 lives as adults, will provide them with skills for 1 12 success, will contribute to positive changes for the 1 13 communities in which they live and work, and will 1 14 benefit the economy of this state; and 1 15 WHEREAS, the goal of Financial Literacy for Youth 1 16 Month is to increase public and educator awareness of 1 17 the need to improve the personal financial literacy of 1 18 Iowa's young people; and 1 19 WHEREAS, this endeavor is worthy of support in 1 20 order to benefit the citizens and consumers of this 1 21 state and to protect the financial future of the 1 22 state's youth; NOW THEREFORE, 1 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate 1 24 designates the month of April 2005 as Financial 1 25 Literacy for Youth Month in Iowa and encourages 1 26 parents and educators to participate in this 1 27 observance with appropriate activities and exercises. 1 28 LSB 2378SS 81 1 29 jr:rj/gg/14 1 30 1
