  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                      BY  McKINLEY
  1  3 A Resolution recognizing the Iowa State Guard
  1  4    Association and honoring its efforts in providing
  1  5    disaster relief.
  1  6    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Guard Association, since
  1  7 its inception in 2002, has supported the state of Iowa
  1  8 emergency management services programs; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Guard Association has
  1 10 demonstrated unstinting support for relief efforts and
  1 11 other types of disaster services provided to the state
  1 12 of Louisiana and its residents following the disaster
  1 13 caused by Hurricane Katrina; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, in recognition of their efforts, the
  1 15 members of the Iowa State Guard Association were
  1 16 awarded the Gold Presidential Volunteer Services Award
  1 17 for 2005; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Guard Association remains
  1 19 ready, willing, and able to perform these same
  1 20 services in Iowa; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Guard Association has
  1 22 reaffirmed its participation and support in providing
  1 23 disaster relief in the state of Iowa and on behalf of
  1 24 the state of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 25    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 26 recognizes the efforts of the Iowa State Guard
  1 27 Association in providing critical disaster relief
  1 28 services and thanks the association and its members
  1 29 for their ongoing efforts and sacrifice in providing
  1 30 aid and comfort in the harshest of disasters.
