  1  1                SENATE RESOLUTION NO. ___
  1  2         BY  DOTZLER, DANIELSON, and BRUNKHORST
  1  3 A Resolution honoring the University of Northern Iowa
  1  4    Football Team.
  1  5    WHEREAS, in 2005 the University of Northern Iowa
  1  6 Football Team, led by Coach Mark Farley, achieved an
  1  7 11=4 record and won the Gateway Football Conference
  1  8 Title; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, the Panthers have made 12 trips to
  1 10 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1=AA
  1 11 playoff games and six trips to the semifinal games;
  1 12 and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the Panthers football team in 2005
  1 14 advanced to the National Collegiate Athletic
  1 15 Association Division 1=AA title game, played at Max
  1 16 Finley Stadium and Davenport Field in Chattanooga,
  1 17 Tennessee, before a record 20,236 fans; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, in a hard=fought championship game the
  1 19 Panthers football team was at last defeated by the
  1 20 Appalachian State University Mountaineers Football
  1 21 Team; and
  1 22    WHEREAS, as a result of their performance five
  1 23 players were named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette
  1 24 All=region Team and Coach Mark Farley was named the
  1 25 Northwest Region Coach of the Year; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 27 congratulates the members of the University of
  1 28 Northern Iowa Football Team and Coach Mark Farley for
  1 29 a great season of football and thanks them for the
  1 30 honor and recognition they have brought to the
  2  1 University of Northern Iowa and to the State of Iowa;
  2  2 and
  2  3    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, an
  2  4 official copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  2  5 presentation to Coach Farley and the members of the
  2  6 University of Northern Iowa Football Team.
