  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  260H.1  PROGRAM SERVICES FOR JOB
  1  2 RETENTION PROJECTS.
  1  3    Notwithstanding any provision in chapter 260E to the
  1  4 contrary, a business that not later than January 1, 2007,
  1  5 commits to retain in Iowa a minimum of two thousand jobs that
  1  6 formerly existed in an industry in Iowa prior to a merger,
  1  7 acquisition, or asset purchase by the business shall be
  1  8 eligible to receive all program services available under
  1  9 chapter 260E.
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill relates to training services for certain job
  1 12 retention projects.
  1 13    The bill provides that, notwithstanding any provision in
  1 14 Code chapter 260E to the contrary, a business that not later
  1 15 than January 1, 2007, commits to retain in Iowa a minimum of
  1 16 2,000 jobs that formerly existed in an industry in Iowa prior
  1 17 to a merger, acquisition, or asset purchase by the business
  1 18 shall be eligible to receive all program services available
  1 19 under Code chapter 260E.
