  1 An Act allowing a nonresident person who has been issued and
  2    holds a valid out=of=state weapons permit to carry weapons in
  3    this state.
  4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 724.4, subsection 4, Code 2005, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1  3    NEW PARAGRAPH.  l.  A person from another state who holds a
  1  4 valid permit from that state authorizing the person to carry
  1  5 weapons in that state, which state imposes permit requirements
  1  6 similar or equal to those imposed under this chapter,
  1  7 including conducting a criminal history check.
  1  8                           EXPLANATION
  1  9    This bill allows a person from another state who holds a
  1 10 valid permit authorizing the person to carry weapons in the
  1 11 person's home state, which state imposes permit requirements
  1 12 similar or equal to those imposed under Code chapter 724,
  1 13 including conducting a criminal history check, to carry
  1 14 weapons in Iowa.
