  1  1    Section 1.  Section 692.2, subsection 1, paragraph b,
  1  2 subparagraph (2), Code 2005, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    (2)  The request must identify a specific person by name
  1  4 and date of birth.  Fingerprints of the person named or the
  1  5 person's social security number may be required by the
  1  6 department.
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill relates to the information required to be
  1  9 submitted with a request to the department of public safety
  1 10 for criminal history data.
  1 11    Code section 692.2, relating to dissemination of criminal
  1 12 history data by the department, is amended to authorize the
  1 13 department to require a request for the data submitted by a
  1 14 person or public or private agency to identify a specific
  1 15 person by social security number.  The Code provision amended
  1 16 by the bill already requires the request for the data to
  1 17 identify a specific person by name and date of birth.
