  1  1          SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. ___
  1  2                       BY  HANCOCK
  1  3           (COMPANION TO LSB 5685HH BY HUSER)
  1  4 A Concurrent Resolution establishing a joint ad hoc
  1  5    committee of members of the Senate and House of
  1  6    Representatives to study emergency services in the
  1  7    state.
  1  8    WHEREAS, emergency services are vital to the health
  1  9 and safety of Iowans; and
  1 10    WHEREAS, the organizational structure and
  1 11 governance of emergency services is complex, involving
  1 12 many units of state and local government; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the funding streams available for
  1 14 emergency services are varied; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 15    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF
  1 16 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That a joint ad hoc
  1 17 committee consisting of members from both chambers is
  1 18 established to study emergency services in the state
  1 19 during the Eighty=first General Assembly, 2006 Regular
  1 20 Session; and
  1 21    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint ad hoc
  1 22 committee shall receive input from the department of
  1 23 public defense, division of homeland security,
  1 24 departments of human services, public health, and
  1 25 public safety, including the state fire marshal, and
  1 26 representatives of emergency services providers,
  1 27 including but not limited to the Iowa Firemen's
  1 28 Association, Iowa Fire Chiefs Association, Iowa
  1 29 Association of Professional Fire Chiefs, and Iowa
  1 30 Professional Fire Fighters; and
  2  1    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint ad hoc
  2  2 committee shall expeditiously complete its study and
  2  3 issue findings and make recommendations regarding the
  2  4 governance, structure, and funding of the state's
  2  5 emergency services.
