  1  1    Section 1.  2006 Iowa Acts, Senate File 2330, section 3,
  1  2 subsection 1, if enacted, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  If revenues are generated from monitor vending machines
  1  4 on or after forty=five days following the effective date of
  1  5 this Act September 1, 2006, then there shall be a monitor
  1  6 vending machine excise tax imposed on net monitor vending
  1  7 machine revenue receipts at the rate of sixty=five percent.
  1  8    Sec. 2.  2006 Iowa Acts, Senate File 2330, section 4, if
  1  9 enacted, is amended to read as follows:
  1 10    SEC. 4.  TRANSITION PROVISIONS == MONITOR VENDING MACHINES.
  1 11 Notwithstanding any provision of section 99G.3, as amended by
  1 12 this Act, to the contrary, a retailer that has acquired a
  1 13 monitor vending machine prior to the effective date of this
  1 14 Act shall be allowed to offer the machine to the public for
  1 15 only forty=five days following the effective date of this Act
  1 16 until September 1, 2006.  On or after forty=five days
  1 17 following the effective date of this Act September 1, 2006, a
  1 18 retailer shall not make a monitor vending machine available to
  1 19 the public.
  1 20    Sec. 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 21 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 22                           EXPLANATION
  1 23    This bill concerns the ending date on which monitor vending
  1 24 machines may be offered to the public.  If 2006 Iowa Acts,
  1 25 Senate File 2330 is enacted, monitor vending machines shall
  1 26 not be allowed to be offered to the public on or after 45 days
  1 27 following the effective date of that Act.  This bill provides
  1 28 that monitor vending machines may be offered until September
  1 29 1, 2006.
  1 30    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
