  1  1    Section 1.  Section 691.6, Code Supplement 2005, is amended
  1  2 by adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  8.  To collect and retain fees for medical
  1  4 examiner facility expenses and services related to tissue
  1  5 recovery.  Fees collected and retained under this subsection
  1  6 are appropriated to the state medical examiner for purposes of
  1  7 supporting the state medical examiner's office and shall not
  1  8 be transferred, used, obligated, or otherwise encumbered.
  1  9 Notwithstanding section 8.33, any fees collected by the state
  1 10 medical examiner shall not revert to the general fund of the
  1 11 state or any other fund.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill provides that the duties of the state medical
  1 14 examiner shall include the collection and retention of fees
  1 15 for medical examiner facility expenses and services related to
  1 16 tissue recovery.  The bill states that the fees are
  1 17 appropriated for purposes of the state medical examiner's
  1 18 office and shall not be otherwise transferred, used,
  1 19 obligated, or encumbered.  The bill specifies that the fees
  1 20 shall not revert to the general fund of the state or any other
  1 21 fund.
