  1 1 Section 1. Section 99F.10, subsection 4, Code 2005, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 4. In determining the license fees and state regulatory
1 4 fees to be charged as provided under section 99F.4 and this
1 5 section, the commission shall use as the basis for determining
1 6 the amount of revenue to be raised from the license fees and
1 7 regulatory fees the amount appropriated to the commission plus
1 8 the cost of salaries for no more than two special agents for
1 9 each excursion gambling boat and no more than four gaming
1 10 enforcement officers for each excursion gambling boat with a
1 11 patron capacity of less than two thousand persons or no more
1 12 than five gaming enforcement officers for each excursion
1 13 gambling boat with a patron capacity of at least two thousand
1 14 persons, plus any direct and indirect support costs for the
1 15 agents and officers, for the division of criminal
1 16 investigation's excursion gambling boat activities, as the
1 17 basis for determining the amount of revenue to be raised from
1 18 the license fees and regulatory fees.
  1 19 EXPLANATION
1 20 This bill increases the number of gaming enforcement
1 21 officers the racing and gaming commission can consider in
1 22 establishing regulatory fees charged for excursion gambling
1 23 boats. The bill provides that the salary costs of up to five
1 24 gaming enforcement officers for each excursion gambling boat
1 25 with a patron capacity of at least 2,000 persons shall be used
1 26 by the commission in setting regulatory fees. Current law
1 27 provides that the salary costs of up to four gaming
1 28 enforcement officers shall be used and this number is retained
1 29 for excursion gambling boats with a patron capacity of less
  1 30 than 2,000.
