1 1 Section 1. Section 126.23A, subsection 1, paragraph b,
1 2 subparagraph (6), unnumbered paragraph 2, Code Supplement
1 3 2005, is amended to read as follows:
1 4 Iowa law prohibits the over=the=counter purchase of more
1 5 than one package of a product containing pseudoephedrine in a
1 6 twenty=four=hour period or of more than seven thousand five
1 7 hundred milligrams of pseudoephedrine within a thirty=day
1 8 period. If you purchase a product containing pseudoephedrine,
1 9 you are required to sign a logbook which may be is accessible
1 10 to law enforcement officers.
1 11 Sec. 2. Section 126.23A, subsection 5, Code Supplement
1 12 2005, is amended to read as follows:
1 13 5. The logbook may be kept in an electronic format upon
1 14 approval by the department of public safety, and shall be
1 15 accessible to any peace officer for examination at reasonable
1 16 times.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill relates to the examination of logbooks signed by
1 19 the purchaser of a pseudoephedrine product. The bill makes a
1 20 logbook signed by the purchaser of a pseudoephedrine product
1 21 accessible to a peace officer for examination at reasonable
1 22 times.
1 23 Current law provides that the logbook may be accessible to
1 24 a peace officer.
